Marketing Manager


Overview:


Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is building on its work on HIV and malaria treatment to support ambitious new efforts to scale-up access to essential child medicines. CHAI will have a particular focus on driving scale-up of zinc and oral rehydration solutions (ORS) to treat diarrhea, which kills nearly one million children every year. Working with the governments of high-burden countries and leading global institutions, CHAI will support intensified efforts at both global and country levels to plan, resource, and implement effective interventions for scaling-up these products.

For its zinc/ORS global team, CHAI is seeking a Marketing Manager to support demand generation/marketing communication efforts in its zinc/ORS scale up programs. The global team is responsible for driving program strategy development and execution to rapidly scale-up zinc and ORS in four CHAI focal countries (India, Kenya, Nigeria, and Uganda), and in collaboration with partner organizations. The global team is also responsible for supporting a global work stream to leverage lessons learned, findings and analysis, across high burden countries.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with outstanding brand management, marketing, and communication skills to support the demand generation/marketing communication activities of the program. The expert will be responsible for ensuring high-quality marketing communication strategies (consumer- and provider-focused) in CHAI’s focal countries. The candidate must be able to function independently and flexibly, have deep personal commitment to producing results, and have the demonstrated ability to lead in a challenging professional environment. Responsibilities:


• Lead engagement with marketing/advertising firms at the global and country level to support country teams in the development and execution of high-quality demand generation/marketing campaigns for the scale up of zinc and ORS
• Support country teams to develop robust, comprehensive market analysis and caregiver/provider insights to inform and regularly update demand generation/marketing strategy
• Develop and disseminate best practice product launches, marketing, distribution and sales for consumer goods in Africa and South Asia as well as for relevant health products across the world
• Work closely with supply-side lead to identify and to develop zinc/ORS product innovation opportunities that will have an impact on driving increased consumer demand
• Work closely with M&E lead and marketing/advertising firm to develop and track appropriate indicators to assess campaign impact on consumer and provider awareness and usage of zinc/ORS
• Support country teams to conduct a high-quality, competitive selection process when engaging marketing/communication/activation firms
• Identify and cultivate innovative partnerships to expand the impact of CHAI’s work at both the global and country level
• Up-skill CHAI staff and partners on private-sector approaches to demand generation and continue to identify and translate emerging best practices in the private sector to global health


Qualifications:


• Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in brand management/marketing/advertising, preferably in the private sector
• Proven track record in developing and delivering strategic marketing plans over a 1 and 3 year time frame
• Proven results in leading cross-functional teams to deliver NPD and marketing plans with robust tracking and evaluation
• Clear understanding of how the marketing function fits within other business disciplines such as supply chain, sales
• Exceptional track record in developing relationships with advertising and media agencies to deliver results based marketing campaigns
• Exceptional diplomatic, strategic-thinking and interpersonal skills, and ability to build relationships
• Proven track record in managing challenging multi-stakeholder situations to achieve intended results
• Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to prepare compelling presentations
• Ability to work independently on complex projects and manage projects with minimal supervision
• High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Plusses
• Experience working in Africa and/or South Asia is a strong plus
• Advanced degrees in management, public health, or other relevant fields
• Experience working within a regulated environment
