Quality Assuarence Lead

Since these are all work from home, freelance, contract and telecommute jobs, you can be based anywhere and still apply. Providing you meet the employer's requirements. However, there are times when the employer will ask for applicants from a specific location, this will be clearly stated in the job posting below.

Title: QA Lead
Date Posted: 2012-12-10
Location: New York, NY
Description:
The Harvest team has been handling its own quality assurance for six years. You would be responsible for organizing all quality assurance activities, working with the rest of the team to help define requirements. You will have great influence on how quality assurance works at Harvest for years to come. The ideal candidate will have 5 years or more experience in QA organization, process implementation and automation. If you have experience with a nimble team where things progress rapidly then you'll feel right at home at Harvest.

Harvest is a distributed team. We have a lovely big office in New York City, but team members live all over the USA, Canada and Europe. Wherever you currently live, that's where we want you to be.

Did we mention a sense of humor yet? It's important, we like to have fun while we work.

Who You Are:
You have unrivaled attention to detail.
You have maintained living click-test scripts that are easily discovered and understood by UX designers and developers.
You have developed simple processes that provide the value of QA with a light touch on time to delivery.
You discover areas of applications no one else knew existed.
You take imprecise bug reports and figure out exactly how errors could happen in the real world.
You write thorough bug reports that are immediately actionable by a developer. Sometimes you include automated tests demonstrating the failure.
You have used Selenium, Capybara, Git, Ruby, Rake and more.

Skills & Requirements

We're looking for someone who has the ability to craft a long-term QA direction for multiple products, and the technical skills to implement their vision. Here are some things we'd expect you to do:
Build and maintain detailed test plans for all areas of Harvest.
Consult with project teams on feature redesigns and help them define a test plan.
Provide ad hoc QA consulting on small features and bug fixes.
Participate in click testing on much of the code delivered to Harvest customers.
Assure visibility and documentation of new and existing bugs in Harvest code.

Experience with writing and reading code, as well as implementing automated cross-browser testing will be important.

About Harvest

Harvest is one of the earliest Rails applications designed for businesses. We took a rather boring and painful problem -- time tracking -- and applied our expertise in design & technology. We're making time tracking enjoyable and effortless.

We started as a team of 3 using Rails 0.14. Since then, we've grown to 20+ Harvesters, serving thousands of customers from over 150 countries (and yes, we're now on Rails 3). We're a profitable and growing business that is completely self-funded.
