Outreach and Website Assistant

Title: Outreach and Website Assistant
Date Posted: 2012-12-22
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Description:
Cultures of Resistance (CoR) (http://www.culturesofresistance.org/), an activist network that works to promote the peace and justice campaigns featured in the documentary film Cultures of Resistance (http://films.culturesofresistance.org/), is looking for a part-time website and outreach assistant who will help in creating web content, publicizing the work of international activists, building relationships with other media and social movement organizations, and assisting with film promotion.

We seek someone with strong interests in international affairs, global justice movements, and the arts. Applicants should have excellent writing skills and strong attention to detail. Self-starters who can complete projects with limited supervision needed. Web programming skills and/or graphic design experience is a plus. Knowledge of Drupal or other content management systems ideal. Foreign language skills--especially Spanish, French, Arabic or Farsi--are also helpful, but not required.

Recent CoR projects include advocating for respect of human rights and international law in Palestine, supporting the efforts of Friends of the Congo, promoting reductions in global military spending, and highlighting the work of socially engaged artists in Iran and Brazil. CoR's most recent film project is a documentary called The Suffering Grasses, which looks at Syria's revolution from the perspective of its refugees.

We're ideally looking for someone based in Philadelphia, who would meet with a project manager there twice per week. However, qualified applicants in New York and Washington D.C. would be considered for remote work, with regular videoconference coordination. Exact start date is negotiable, but we're looking to move forward in the very near future.
