Position Summary
The Sr. Director, Logistics Engineering will report to the VP, Warehouse Operations and is responsible for developing fulfillment center design, construction and engineering solutions incorporating all aspects of MHE and automation. This role will be responsible for network capacity and efficiency through lean practices, tactical and strategic MHE solutions and demonstrating full ROI on all projects.

Position Description
1. Design of Future Network (55%)
• Develops and implements divisional and corporate strategic initiatives by directing new designs of distribution centers and large scale process changes to existing distribution channels; and serving as a member of multiple senior-level cross-functional steering committees for strategic initiatives. Works in conjunction with Wal-Mart Logistics and network planning and modeling team to evaluate capacity and infrastructure growth

• Oversees the development and implementation of processes, technologies, and material handling equipment improvement strategies across domestic networks by approving capital project and process improvement plans and strategies to reduce costs, enhance store service, improve safety, and improve engineering quality; working with senior leadership teams of Operations and material handling suppliers to approve new engineering applications; presenting project concepts and designs to senior and executive leadership teams for approval; communicating new distribution center concepts and improving existing operations; setting or applying best practices; managing suppliers and contractors to ensure programs are delivered on-time and within approved budgets; and supporting the team in measuring, tracking, and publishing systems and operational performance.

• Provides overall direction for Logistics Engineering and Project Management teams by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; analyzing costs and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes; measuring outcomes to ensure desired results; identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; promoting a customer-focused environment; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning.

• Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent.

• Cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices; developing consequences for violations or non-compliance; and supporting the Open Door Policy.

2. Review of Existing Infrastructure (30%)

• Identifies and formulates projects and lean reviews to drive performance from existing material handling equipment.

• Reviews operational layouts and reengineers for optimal flow and reduction in handling touches.

• Re engineer bottlenecks and operational constraints and calculates revised throughputs

• Provides guidance and coaching within the organization and also in conjunction with 3PLs and primary Drop Ship vendors

• Develops and maintains supplier relationships by collaborating with major international and domestic material handling and equipment suppliers; working directly with the executive leadership teams from suppliers; developing and managing contracts for capital projects and purchases; and negotiating price, schedules, and service on capital projects.

• Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals by sponsoring and leading key community outreach and involvement initiatives; engaging key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of appropriate business plans and initiatives; and supporting associate efforts in these areas.

3. Presentation (15%)
• Develops complex designs and financial analysis to present to executive team and cross functional partners.
• Justifies significant capital expenditure projects
• Demonstrates on a regular basis the achieved ROI on previous implementations

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field and 8 years experience in Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 5 years of supervisory experience.

Additional Preferred Qualifications
• Extensive experience in ecommerce operations and automated facilities.
• Technical engineering background and ability to land strong commercial projects.
• Industrial engineering and hands on warehouse experience.
• Lean six sigma principles experience is essential.
• Ability to work with Wal-Mart logistics and multiple vendors to optimize solutions specifically for eCommerce.
