Activism Co-ordinator – Midlands

£28,960 - £36,090 pa Birmingham

Get more people more fired up. Find, inspire and support the activists who campaign on our behalf. And, through them, help us fight the poverty and injustice that affects many millions of people around the world.

The role Oxfam activists do the vital job of spreading our message in the heart of our communities – building up the pressure, and getting the people who make the decisions to do the right thing. We couldn't get the changes we want without them. And they wouldn’t do such a great job without you.

You’ll make our campaigning at local level more effective by growing and nurturing our network of activists across the Midlands. You identify and reach new people, and empower both new and existing activists to be more creative and have greater impact. So whether they’re writing to their local paper, lobbying their MP or talking to people in their communities, they’ll make a bigger difference. It means reinforcing their commitment with support that includes well-thought through strategies, tailored communications and thorough training. It will be down to you to pinpoint training needs and working in partnerships across the Midlands set up and run local training and networking events.

About you Clearly you’ll need to be able to motivate others and have the confidence to get out and talk with community groups, adapt your style to a range of audiences, and make your voice heard through all sorts of channels. And whether the challenges you face are straightforward or complex, you’ll relish coming up with new ways to tackle them. Back all that up with good experience in local and/or regional activism, strong project management skills and a team ethic, and you could soon be getting even better results than you already have.

About Oxfam A simple, inescapable truth underlines everything we do at Oxfam. There’s enough wealth in this world to go around. It’s not unfortunate that people live in poverty. It’s unjustifiable. It’s not their problem. It’s ours too. And with the right support, we can stop poverty and suffering in their tracks.
