Tdh India Country Office’s areas of expertise lie in Child Protection, Mother & Child Health, and Emergency Response. Besides financial aid, Tdh in India supports its partners with technical inputs and is involved in all stages of the project- from designing to monitoring and evaluation.
Tdh work at a systemic level, engaging with formal and non-formal actors, Government, service providers, civil society organisations, communities, families, and children themselves to ensure the care and protection of vulnerable children on the long-term.
About the Position:
As a representative of the Foundation in India, this position leads and manages the team, the partnerships, Programmes carried out in the country, and in collaboration with the Head of Multi Country Delegation India and Nepal (HoMCD), ensures funding coverage for India programs. Under the supervision of the HoMCD, the selected candidate will be responsible for supporting the strategic development and implementation of Terre des hommes programs in India. The position advises and assists the HoMCD in the definition of programs, projects, operational and institutional strategies, in line with Tdh’s global, regional and MCD strategies and policies. The position has direct managerial responsibilities for and supervision over the program, Finance, HR and MEAL staff based on the organization’s organigram and oversees the overall security and financial and administrative management of the India Country Office.
This position will be based out of Delhi with ‘home Office’ when in Delhi, and with frequent travel to Kolkata office and project sites.
Reporting: Reports to Head of MCD India and Nepal
Duration of assignment: Initially for 1 year (Renewable based on the performance and organization’s requirement). Probation period is 3 months from date of joining.
Starting date: 1st November 2022, preferred
Main Responsibilities
Country office Operations :
Ensures operational coordination between program, finance, HR, communication, and logistics ensuring that they run smoothly, and offer support to your team to accelerate the smooth coordination and implementation. Ensures Tdh complies with reporting obligations in accordance with both legal frameworks and compliance in all relevant jurisdictions within India. Leads the team in an inspiring way in coordination with the HoMCD and regional colleagues and works closely and collaboratively with SMT at country and MCD level.
Fundraising and Networking :
Secure and steward in-country funding opportunities, building relationships with donors in country to secure new grants and strengthen Tdhs profile and visibility.
Promote Tdh’s organizational identity to all stakeholders and partners while ensuring Tdh remains relevant to the changing needs of children and youth in the country.
Represent Tdh in strategic meetings, conferences, forums, and other public events in India.
Develop and maintain links with relevant senior government officials and with country representatives from in-country donors, UN bodies, academia, and other international NGOs.
In collaboration with the HoMCD lead the implementation of the intervention strategy for the country as per the MCD strategic Plan, ensuring the country action plan and strategy are in line with the MCD and Tdh’s global strategy.
Coordinates the implementation of the Program including developing project proposals and achieving fundraising results.
It is expected that within 12 months, at least 2 new strategic partnerships will be secured, along with secured funding to maintain the structure in place
In coordination with the HoMCD, leads the fundraising and negotiations with funding partners in country.
Strategic Direction and Program quality Implementation:
In collaboration with the HoMCD lead the implementation of the intervention strategy for the country as per the MCD strategic Plan, ensuring the country action plan and strategy are in line with the MCD and Tdh’s global strategy.
Ensure quality of projects in terms of planning, monitoring, implementation and partners’ management, impacts, efficiency, and reporting, in line with Tdh standards and with donors’ requirements.
Supports the SMT to ensure the leadership and management structures are coherent to the ‘One team’ approach of Tdh MCD.
Controls the application and supervision of signed agreements between Tdh and its partners and local/national authorities.
Supervises the correct financial management of the Country Office and the funds provided for it.
Human resources management: Ensures theprofessional development andcoaching of any collaborator under their responsibility, from the recruiting to the final collaboration reports. Uses good practices so that their management respects the values of Tdh. Applies and ensures the implementation of staff management policies within the Country Office.
Representation and networking: To establish and maintain good representation of Tdh India Office within relevant forums, Government bodies (national and state level), technical work groups, NGOs, INGOs, and with Donors in India.
Leadership: Ensures and creates a healthy and empowering office environment that encourages open, honest, and productive communication among staff and associates. Ensures open communications between field teams, senior management team, MCD team and regional colleaques, and take proactive role to address barriers of open communication in line with the values of Tdh.
Coordination: Ensures the correct flow of operational information within the Country Office and within the MCD and with regional colleagues as per the MCD communication flow chart.
Fosters the correct communication and visibility of the projects and the foundation.
Ensure for the implementation of policies on security, safeguarding, fraud prevention and Gender & Diversity and any other Tdh or Donors policies.

Expected qualification and experience:
Master’s degree in Management, Development Studies, Business development, Sociology, or related discipline(s)
Demonstrated experience in developing networks and building alliances
5+ years of experience in a senior management position
Experience of managing development programmes, advocacy, humanitarian, and other interventions within an INGO
Experience of working with institutional and private donors (including CSR)
Knowledge of Child Protection, Migration, Access to Justice, Health, WASH and Emergency Response programs
Experience in successfully managing various forms of partnership with National and International NGOs and private companies
Evidenced experience in proposal writing where grants 500,000 USD or greater were secured
Strong team leadership qualities
Capacity to work independently and under pressure
Child Safeguarding policy:

Recruitment & Remuneration
Tdh offers a competitive package of remuneration, based on the candidates’ experience and credentials. Annual CTC (Cost to Company) for this position will be INR 32,50,000 including Annual festival bonus & employers contribution to PF. In addition, Tdh provides Gratuity (as per Indian Gratuity Act), Mediclaim Health Insurance coverage of INR 10,00,000 for Employee & family and Accidental insurance coverage of INR 10,00,000 for the Employee.
