 Field Project Coordinator - Turkana

Background

Kenya faced a severe drought in 2011 whose impacts are still being felt, following successive rain failures.

The drought described as one of the worst in 60 years affected three quarters of the country especially in the North Eastern, Rift Valley, Eastern and Coast provinces.

3.75 million people mainly the pastoralists, farmers in marginal agricultural areas as well as the urban poor were affected.

The drought caused crop failure, depleted pasture, water and led to loss of livestock contributing to a sharp deterioration of household food security.

UNDP together with GOK have developed a project as a medium term measure to support recovery as well as build resilience of communities especially youth and women’s groups affected by the drought and to strengthen institutions responsible for recovery and disaster risk reduction work.

The intervention will address short term livelihoods economic recovery needs of youth and women while establishing in the process the capacities and building blocks of sustainable local long-term development.

Objective

The main objective of the assignment is to assist the implementing agency (NDMA) to coordinate implementation of interventions to support recovery as well as build resilience of communities especially youth and women’s groups.

Working in close collaboration and reporting to the National Programme Officer (NPO), the consultant will coordinate and ensure high quality of project activities in Turkana.

To succeed in this role, it is expected that you will possess a minimum of 5 years experience as a Project Manager on SURF projects. Macro Project Manager for RF Transceivers (f/m).


In this position, you will be part of a highly-dynamic development and verification team for RF Transceivers.. You will be responsible for technical project management of TRX subsystem overseeing digital, mixed signal, RF and FW development, reporting to the overall project manager. You�re going to work in close cooperation with system engineering in architecture development to achieve optimum performance and power consumption and to optimize digital/analog partitioning. In addition you take responsibility for technical performance, die area, budget of macro and in the follow for transfer to production and support of production test development

Qualifications

Work experience in digital development of at least 5 years is required. We expect you to bring solid leadership, communication and documentation skills.
We expect a highly-motivated expert with in SoC design, a broad background in digital and analog/MS/RF design and experience in management of small projects. Strong interests in problem solving and an attitude to convince people of own ideas as well as openness towards novel technical directions are mandatory.,

The candidate should be capable of working in multidisciplinary / site / cultural teams. We expect experience in management of smaller projects.

Required skills are
- Good communication and presentation skills are required
- Proficiency in digital design - HDL & Semi-Custom Flow
- Proficiency in functional verification
- Broad background in analog/MS/RF design
- Knowledge in software development methodology
- Knowledge of SystemC and system simulation tools, simulation and modeling
- Good knowledge in analog/mixed signal/RF CMOS circuits would be required
