Assistant Professor in Information Management and/or Information Technology (IT) in Education

Applications are invited for appointment as Assistant Professor in Information Management and/or
Information Technology (IT) in Education in the Faculty of Education, tenable from 1
September 2012, on a three-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of renewal. The appointee
with demonstrated performance will be considered for tenure towards the end of the second three-
year contract.
Applicants should have a strong record of teaching and scholarship. Expertise in the area of
research methodology in IT in Education is highly desirable. Applicants should possess a Ph.D.
degree, a professional teaching qualification in the relevant discipline and substantial experience in
teaching at the tertiary level. Knowledge of the local context would be an advantage. The appointee
should be able to contribute to the following areas through teaching and research: learning
technologies design, e-learning, and digital storytelling in education. He/she will be required to
teach on courses offered by the Faculty at various levels from undergraduate to doctorate,
supervise research postgraduate students, undertake teaching practicum supervision, contribute
actively to research and undertake administrative responsibilities.

A globally competitive remuneration package commensurate with the appointee's qualifications and
experience will be offered. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The
appointments on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a
retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as
applicable.
