EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR CONSULTANCY TO CONDUCT RESEARCH ON ELIMINATION OF HAMFUL PRACTISES IN EAST AND SOUTHERN AFRICA, Nairobi, Kenya

Plan is an international, humanitarian, child-centred development organisation which works in over 60 countries to realise its vision of a world where all children realise their potential in societies that respect rights and dignities.

Plan Regional Office for Eastern and Southern Africa (RESA) invites tenders from qualified research firms for consultancy services to conduct a study, to investigate the Progress on recommendations made towards the Elimination of Harmful practices in Africa, within four countries namely; Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia and Mozambique.

QUALIFICATIONS AND TECHNICAL EXPERTISE The study implementation requires the study partners (or consulting firm) with capacity to undertake the study in four countries and can carry out simultaneous data collection. The firm should provide 2-3 senior researchers who need to comply with the following profile:
Masters degree and/or proven expertise in social development with a specific focus on child protection programming
Excellent experience in working in child protection, and elimination of violence against children programs at community level, national and regional levels ;
At least 8 years of research experience in Sub-Saharan Africa and a solid understanding on child rights and child development issues in Africa;
A track record of published research work in the areas of child protection and gender; preferably child protection models addressing child labour child marriage and child trafficking
Excellent scientific writing skills in English.

SUBMISSION OF PROPOSALS Interested consulting firms should prepare and submit by January 7th, 2012, Expressions of interested detailing technical and financial proposal including:
a description of the proposed research methodology
a proposed work calendar; for research process and reporting concluded by end of March 2013
a detailed budget outline
Curriculum Vitae of Key consultants/researchers proposed for the research study
Two references of previous clients
