Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS) is a Christian not-for-profit organization based in Nairobi, Kenya. It is a Registered Trust of Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) and Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK). The Organization’s core mandate is being a reliable supply chain for quality and affordable Health Products and Technologies, Quality Assurance and Health Advisory Services. MEDS was established in 1986 and serves clients spread all over Kenya and other regions both in Africa and beyond.
MEDS has entered into a Contract with USAID Kenya and East Africa named USAID Supply Chain Strengthening. The purpose of the contract is to obtain efficient, reliable and accountable supply chain management services for the procurement, warehousing, and distribution of health commodities for HIV, Malaria, Tuberculosis, Maternal/Neonatal/Child Health (MNCH) and Global Health Security (GHS) activities for patients across all 47 Counties in Kenya for adequate care, treatment and prevention for communicable diseases and other health needs. MEDS seeks to recruit Logistics Team Lead for this Project.
Key Responsibilities:
Synchronize supply of goods with programming needs
Ensure quality and efficiency of processes in compliance with MEDS and donor regulations, and international and local inventory accountability standards and requirements
Manage the determination of logistics service requirements, desired specifications and delivery schedules, ensuring proper coordination and communication
Anticipate and identify potential or actual problems in the supply chain that may affect the short-term or long-term availability of individual goods and act to address those problems
Identify and assess transportation resources, storage facilities, leasing options, and any other logistics services
Maintain and oversee relationships with port operations, freight forwarders, customs clearing agents and key suppliers
Participate in coordination meetings to ensure planning and coordination of supply chain management activities
Plan and manage distribution chain from the port of arrival to beneficiary SDPs or disposal
Oversee and ensure proper execution of the dispatch plan
Work with programming staff to verify the dispatch plan’s adherence to the Distribution Plan
Work with Warehouse Team Lead to ensure efficient movement of goods.
Prepare reports on complete movements of goods
Candidate Profile:
Minimum 5 years experience in logistics management. Prior experience in the distribution of USAID health program orders will be an added advantage
Business-related Degree and Diploma in Supply Chain Management
