HEAVY LIFT SPECIALIST

OVERALL ROLE

    Perform structural calculations applicable to transportation environments including sea, inland waterways, road, rail and air modes
    Create drawings and technical descriptions to facilitate method statements
    Outwardly visible to clients to demonstrate DHL’s technical abilities.
    Align DHL’s technical abilities with the highest industry standards

TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Adhere to HSE requirements
    Adhere to SOP and SAP
    Liaise with Project Managers to support DHL’s logistical activities
    Review service provider’s technical abilities to confirm suitability
    Review technical requirements from customers and assist in developing operating procedures to ensure compliance by DHL
    Develop technical requirements for RFQs and formal tenders to service providers
    Generate transportation drawings displaying lifting/lashing schemes and develop bill of materials and associated costs
    Attend meetings with clients to discuss technical issues
    Review technical requirements of governing bodies (such as the DOT) and ensure compliance by DHL
    Create bulletins of cargo heavy lifts highlighting technical achievements to be used as marketing tools
    Attend conferences related to cargo handling to ensure DHL is aware of industry advancements

SKILLS AND QUALIFICIATIONS

    BS in Mechanical Engineering
    3 – 5 years of related or similar experience
    Knowledge of applicable specifications such as DOT, IMO and DNV regulations
    Strong computer skills
    Proficient with AutoCad or similar
    Knowledge of securing materials, weldments and sections
    Knowledge of Sea Force, buoyancy and ballasting concepts
    Technical writing
    Knowledge of rigging/lashing materials and technical concepts
