Job Specification:

We are doing the fundamental work to start Cotton agriculture in Gambella Region in order to meet the high demand for it. Toren Agro always seeks to be responsible in meeting farm standards (environment and animal welfare) as well as working hand-in-hand with Ethiopian Ministry of Agriculture.

We are excited to announce that we are now looking for a Head of Agriculture within our team. As the Head of Agriculture, your role will be to develop, manage and deliver Toren agriculture policy and strategy for all our products and facilitate collaboration/ co-operation between the fanning industry and Toren Agro commercial teams.

Key responsibilities:

    Developing the long term strategy for Toren Agro Industries P.L.C
    Setting the standards which Toren Agro requires for all cotton, soybean, and Sesame and other products from planting to cultivation.
    Overseeing the day to day interaction with the farming industry
    Meeting with Farmers and processors that supply Toren Agro to explain and deliver our common objectives
    Owning the relationship with the Ethiopian Ministry of Agriculture.
    Delivering a plan with farmers and processors to meet customer expectations on environmental, animal welfare and farming practice
    Developing an industry communication plan, including press activity, speaking at conferences, attending industry events and holding producer club meetings providing Directors within Toren Agro with relevant agriculture expertise
    Owning and enforcing Toren Agro codes of Practice


Requirements

Candidate Specification:

The successful candidate will have:

    Degree in Agriculture science (or related subject, such as Plant science, Farm business management etc.)
    Worked within the Plant or farming industry
    Proven track record of delivering change, with experience not less than 5 years.
    Ability to build cross functional relationships across the business and externally
    Strong relationships with Industry and Community
    Strength in finding creative solutions
